CHINESE APPLE GATEAU

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • apple 2 big fruits
  • grated orange zest of 1 fruit
  • sugar 50 grams
  • cinnamon 1/2 teaspoon
  • cloves 2 pieces
  • apple juice 150 ml
  • salt

For the dough:

  • butter 180 grams
  • vegetable oil 2 tablespoons
  • water 60 ml
  • sugar 50 grams
  • MAKFA All-Purpose flour 300 grams
  • salt

Cooking

  1. Peel the apples, cut them into cubes, put into the stewpot together with grated orange zest and cook at medium heat for 5 minutes.
  2. Add sugar and cook stirring for another 5 minutes. Add cinnamon, cloves and a pinch of salt. Cook at medium heat until thickened. Pour the apple juice and cook for another 15 minutes.
  3. Put the butter into the stewpot, add vegetable oil, water, sugar and a pinch of salt to prepare the dough. Warm up stirring at medium heat until bubbles on the surface. Pour the mixture in the sieved flour and mix all together once again.
  4. Let the dough cool a little, then mix by hands.
  5. Cut the dough in half and roll out into two 0.5-millimeter-thick parts. Put the apple filling on one part with the small distance from the edge and cover with the other part. Pinch the edges together.
  6. Pin the dough with a fork and bake the gateau in an oven at 190°С for 20–25 minutes. Slice and serve when ready.
